David Garza & friends at Continental Club. The long run of Alejandro Escovedo’s magical Sunday shows at the end of South by Southwest has come to an end, with Escovedo now living in Dallas and not attending SXSW this year. But at last year’s finale, he passed the torch to his friend and fellow musician extraordinaire David Garza, who has a full lineup in store from the early afternoon to the wee hours. Headlining at midnight are Charlie Sexton and the Mystic Knights of the Sea, with some special guests sitting in; preceding them, in descending order of appearance, are Will Sexton & Amy Lavere, Javier Escovedo, the Americans, Last Bandoleros, Midland, Juliana Sheffield, Whitney Rose, Hot Club of Cowtown, the Grahams and Dan Dyer. The whole thing starts at 2 p.m., with the $20 cover charge benefiting the SIMS Foundation. 1315 S. Congress Ave. continentalclub.com.

Also: Robert Plant‘s much-talked-about appearance at last week’s Austin Music Awards was just the start of a little homecoming for the Led Zeppelin singer who left Austin two years ago after a brief period as a resident among us. He plays ACL Live tonight with his Sensational Space Shifters band and opening act the Sonics in a sold-out show, and returns to the same venue tomorrow to tape “Austin City Limits” for those lucky folks who got tickets through the show’s website. … One last afternoon go-round at Lucy’s Fried Chicken includes sets by Ray Wylie Hubbard, Mike & the Moonpies, Jon Dee Graham and more. … A great bill up north at the Carousel Lounge finds Waco Brothers ringleader Jon Langford celebrating what he called on Facebook “a pinnacle of my career” — getting thrown out of Saxon Pub Saturday night — by headlining a 7:30 p.m. show that also features the ReiversWannabes and Rite Flyers. … Big adios-to-SXSW unofficial shows along Red River Street, are taking place all day and night at Empire (with A Giant Dog, Xetas and more), Beerland (with Yonatan Gat, Mystery Lights and more) and Barracuda (with Christian Bland, Danny Malone and more). … An Americana-styled show at 1 p.m. at G&S Lounge features Freddie Steady Krc, Phil Lee and more. … The weekly “Soul of a Musician” series at 6 p.m. at Iron Cactus North features local guitarist and songwriter Billy Harvey. … Back downtown, the Townsend has an 8 p.m. show with Irishman B.P. Fallon and Austin rockers the Bluebonnets. … Out at the Travis County Expo Center, a 3 p.m. Rodeo Austin bill features country singer Tanya Tucker.
