Satellite radio station Sirius XM’s classic rap station “Backspin,”  is hosting an old school rap “festival” tour with a lineup loaded with influential heavy hitters. Public Enemy, Ice-T, MC Lyte, Mobb Deep, Doug E. Fresh, EPMD, the Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Kurtis Blow and Scorpio will all perform at the day-long event hosted by Cheifrocker Busy Bee.

The tour kicks off in Dallas on July 16 and then hits the Austin360 Amphitheater the following day, Sunday, July 17. It’s an extension of Ice-T’s critically acclaimed 2012 documentary “Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap” and a related regional festival in Orange County, California and the Bay Area.

“Hip-hop is the most powerful and influential cultural movement since rock and roll.  A true art form that deserves respect,” said Ice-T in a press release announcing the festival.

Tickets to the show are $25-$79.95 and go on-sale to the general public Friday, May 13, 2016 at noon via ticketmaster.com, all ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 1-800-745-3000 to charge by phone.
