Representatives from the Frank Erwin Center said they “will expand the implementation of their evolving and enhanced security plan” for the venue at a concert by former Disney starlet Selena Gomez scheduled for Friday.  The new security measures include walk-through metal detectors at every entrance to the venue and restrictions on the size of bags allowed.

Only soft sided bags no larger than 12” x 12” x 12’’ that can fit fully beneath the arena seat will be permitted inside the Erwin Center. Concert-goers who attempt to enter the venue with bags larger than the permitted size will be asked to return them to their vehicles or discard them. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.

All bags, purses or personal items of any size will be searched at the venue gates.

The enhanced security measures align the Erwin Center with similar procedures in place at NBA and NHL arenas around the country.

“The safety of our guests and employees are our top priority,” says Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director John Graham. “These new security procedures are just one part of our larger enhanced security plan including increased security on non-event days.”
