ACL Fest ain’t over yet, but if you live in Austin, you know quite well that the music never stops. Here’s the lowdown on three just-announced events coming up soon featuring star-studded Texas talent:
“The Jungle Show,” Oct. 13 at Antone’s. It’s not often you get a chance to see ZZ Top leader Billy Gibbons in a nightclub, but he’s the big name on this bill that also features guitar great Jimmie Vaughan and former Austin blues-rocker Sue Foley. The gravitational force is B3 organ master Mike Flanigin, who’s collaborated with all three of them recently. The band also will include Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton. It ain’t cheap, at $35 to $100, but the quality warrants the price.
Gary Clark Jr., Oct. 28 at the downtown Hilton Hotel. This one’s free, but it’s open only to members of the hotel’s HHonors program. It’s the final installment of the hotel chain’s worldwide 2016 Hilton Concert Series, which has included a half-dozen previous shows including Elle King in Hollywood, Halsey in Tokyo and Tegan & Sara in Toronto. Signup on the HHonors website apparently has already reached capacity, according to a publicist for the event, but members might want to check the site as the date draws nearer for any updates.
House our Heroes, Nov. 13 at Stubb’s. Vaughan and Flanigin team up again on this bill, which also includes our September Austin360 Artist of the Month Tameca Jones, longtime Austin blues group Omar & the Howlers, and slide guitar ace Jeff Plankenhorn with Malford Milligan and Cari Hutson. Tickets are $30-35, with $150 VIP also available. Proceeds benefit Red, White & Blues 512, a new nonprofit helping Austin veterans find stable housing.
