This week’s music picks: Broken Spoke film screening, Help Clifford Help Kids and more

Wednesday: “Honky Tonk Heaven” DVD release party at Broken Spoke. A documentary about the legendary country dance hall that celebrates its 52nd anniversary this week, “Honky Tonk Heaven” premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this year. Now it’s coming out on DVD, so the Spoke is celebrating with a 5:30 p.m. party, a 7 p.m. screening of the movie, and a 9 p.m. performance by Alvin Crow & the Pleasant Valley Boys. $15. 3201 S. Lamar Blvd. brokenspokeaustintx.net. — P.B.

Wednesday: Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams at Cactus Cafe. A welcome spark opening for Jackson Browne last year at Bass Concert Hall, ace instrumentalist Campbell and soulful vocalist Williams return for a much more intimate UT campus appearance. $20-$25. 8:30 p.m. 2237 Guadalupe St. cactuscafe.org. — P.B.

Thursday: “Help Clifford Help Kids” with Irma Thomas at ACL Live. The Clifford Antone Foundation, a new local nonprofit that’s “dedicated to preserving our music culture and community by caring for our elders and investing in our youth” (per its website) presents this benefit for American YouthWorks. The New Orleans soul queen headlines a bill that also includes local luminaries Marcia Ball, Emily Gimble and Georgia Bramhall. $28-$38. 9 p.m. 301 Willie Nelson Blvd. acl-live.com. — P.B.
