City Council approved an amended version of a proposed pilot program to test extended curfews for outdoor live music in the Red River Cultural District on Thursday. The plan extends curfews in the district to midnight on Thursdays and 1 a.m. on weekends for a six-month period. City officials will use that time period to gather data on the community impact of the later end times and decide whether to continue the program for an additional six months. The proposed time period for the pilot program runs from May to November of this year.

Bar owners in the district, which includes the popular music venues Stubb’s BBQ, the Mohawk and Empire Garage, have argued that extended hours could have a big impact on struggling clubs.
