Weekend music picks: Feel the love as Body Rock ATX turns 7

Friday: Body Rock 7-year anniversary with DJ Nu-Mark at Empire. This crew always encourages you to get all up in your feelings as you work your body and leave your woes in a pool of sweat on the dance floor, but love will certainly be in the house for this special edition. Jurassic 5 turntablist Nu-Mark stops in to help celebrate seven years of the most essential hip-hop dance party in Austin a week before hosts, husband/wife team Riders Against the Storm, celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Heart emojis all around. $10. 606 E. Seventh St. empireatx.com. — D.S.S.

Saturday: Sharon Bourbonnais CD release at El Mercado Backstage. The leader of the band Tres Bourbonnais perhaps walks in the footsteps of longtime Austin favorite Marcia Ball, mixing swampy blues and rootsy jazz with her piano playing and sassy vocals front and center. Tight rhythms and occasional blasts of horns spice up Bourbonnais’ good-time groove on “A Girl’s Gotta Play,” her new CD. Kyle’s Kitchen opens. $10. 7 p.m. 1302 S. First St. elmercadorestaurant.com. — P.B.

Saturday: Austra at the Mohawk. Lead singer Katie Stelmanis slinks through dreamy synths and burbling electro grooves into shadowy cityscapes that are almost certainly unsafe at night on “Future Politics,” the brooding, wounded and occasionally menacing, new release from the Toronto darkwave outfit that dropped, fittingly, on Inauguration Day. The Range and Night Drive open. $17. Doors at 8 p.m. 912 Red River St. mohawkaustin.com. — D.S.S.
