In 2015, now 50-year-old pop sensation, Janet Jackson announced via Twitter that she was canceling her “Unbreakable” tour to focus on starting a family. Last night, she took to the social media platform once more to let fans know she’s ready to hit the road again. Her new “State of the World” tour kicks off on September 7 and Austin is the third stop of the run, on September 10.
Tickets held over from the Unbreakable tour will be honored for the new date and new tickets to this year’s show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
In a personal video that clocks in at about minute and a half, the superstar talks about the joys of motherhood. She also opens up to her fans. “I just want to keep it real for y’all for a second,” she says. “Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God’s hands.”
She’s renamed the tour “State of the World,” a title that she says is not about politics, but “people, the world, relationships and love.”
The press release for the tour promises a mix of “fan favorites from her chart-topping ‘Unbreakable’ album, an array of her socially conscious music she’s released throughout her career, and other smash hits and soon-to-be released new tracks.”
