Solstice Fest brings JJ Grey & Mofro, Built to Spill and more in mid-June

Summer’s coming and that means … well, generally a little less music around town, what with the heat making outdoor festivals a challenge and Austin’s population a little lighter after students depart. But before those doldrums descend, there’s Solstice Fest, two nights in the clubs and one day in the park featuring a large lineup of local and national musicians.

Set for June 15-17, a few days before the actual solstice on June 20, the festival kicks off with Thursday and Friday shows at Red River District hot spots the Mohawk, Empire and Sidewinder before Saturday’s big bash in Pan Am Park on the east side. The full breakdown of who’s playing where, and when, isn’t on the Solstice Fest website yet, but the lineup includes national headliners JJ Grey & Mofro and Built to Spill, along with local heavy-hitters the Bright Light Social Hour and Golden Dawn Arkestra, plus a deep undercard.

A $35 wristband guarantees admission to Saturday’s show in the park, plus entry into the Thursday-Friday shows at the three clubs until they reach capacity. (A $130 VIP pass guarantees admission to the clubs as well, plus a VIP lounge at the park.)

Here’s the full rundown of all performers:
