Scene report: Capyac flips up fresh flapjacks for ACL Fest fans

Forgot to eat breakfast before heading out to ACL today? Hopefully you were at the Tito’s Handmade Vodka tent just after noon. In what surely must be a festival first (and a delicious violation of city health and food safety ordinances), Austin-based dance act Capyac cooked up pancakes and tossed them out into the crowd throughout their 45-minute set.

Not content with a troupe consisting of rappers, costumed dancers, and backup vocalists, the band had a dedicated backup dancer/flapjack cook, whose electric griddle was as hot as the future-funk grooves the band was serving up. Fans playfully leaped and pawed for hotcakes tossed into the audience. No word on if they were actually good or not sans syrup.

The local party animals are an ACL Fest Weekend One-only act, and were set to play next in Austin at Sound on Sound Fest (womp, womp).
