The benefit was inspired by Sean Philips, a neighbor to House and who was the first person on the scene on the day of the explosion on March 2. Phillips’ daughter and House’s daughter are close friends.

“He was friendly and personable,” Philips told the Statesman in March. “My wife and I work on Saturdays, so we couldn’t take our kids to his daughter’s party at the skating rink. He not only took both of them, he brought my son home early when he got a tummy ache from skating too fast.

“He was an amazing father,” Philips said.

The organizers plan to use money raised at the benefit “to send Mr. House’s daughter on a summer time adventure, in an effort to give a little bit of her childhood back, as well as supporting her college trust fund.”

Tickets to the event are $15-$20 and available here.
